Creative Fundraising

Would you pay to wear jeans to work or buy a soup lunch on a Friday afternoon? What if the money was going to help families with children and single women experiencing homelessness?

Those are just two examples of the creative fundraising ideas that we saw in December. Bullivant Houser Bailey raised $450 through their wear jeans to work fundraiser. And the local Stein Mart used the money from their soup fundraiser to buy more toys and clothes for the children in our shelters.

Another creative idea comes from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics (formerly Dade Behring) of West Sacramento, who have put together an innovative Halloween event for the last two years. Their event involves a potluck, costume contest, costume parade, prizes to the top three costumes, and a raffle. To draw donations, each employee that donates is awarded raffle tickets. This year, through the dedicated work of their Community Involvement Team they were able to collect in-kind donations valued at over $2,500!

We are so impressed with these novel ways to encourage employee contributions. If these ideas have inspired you, please consider having a creative fundraising event in your office!
