Your Investments Matter A Message from Carolyn Brodt, Executive Director
I often hear the question “How does SAEHC use my financial investment?” It is an excellent question that I am always happy to answer. As a local nonprofit, your donations are helping those in your community. When you give financially to SAEHC, you are helping individuals, and families with children in Sacramento County to get off of the streets and into safe and stable housing and assisting these individuals in developing the life skills necessary to succeed in maintaining their own housing. The question of what is purchased or paid for from donations varies upon the year and the need within the agency. Donations are used to support our eleven programs in unique and different ways. Donations make it possible for staff to host Family Fun Nights every Friday evening giving parents and children an opportunity to relax and play together. In the Mather program, donations may be used to buy shoes for the children to wear to school. In the Omega Program, donations are used to take children and their families on field trips and to buy mattresses and kitchen supplies for families as they enter into their own housing. What you can be sure of, is that with an administrative overhead of only 5.8%, your donations to SAEHC are making a difference by going to the people who need them. Get Involved! "Bare Necessities" Clothing Drive When a family has fallen on hard times, their clothing budget is usually spent on the high priority and visible items
such as the pants and shirts that will be worn to school and work, and the shoes that will protect their feet. Donate to the Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Program! At SAEHC we believe in a holistic approach to breaking the cycle of homelessness. That is why we are starting the Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds program at our Women’s Refuge. This program will incorporate stress relief activities like yoga and knitting classes with nutrition focused cooking classes. We have been working hard these last few months to put this program into place, but we need your help! We have found a wonderful volunteer who is willing to donate their time to teach bi-weekly cooking classes, but we need supplies. If you have a garden that is overflowing with fresh produce, or if you would like to make a financial donation so that healthy ingredients can be purchased, please contact Natalie at nkuffel@saehc.org or 916-454-2120 x302. We are also looking for a yoga teacher who would be willing to donate their time. The mats have been donated courtesy of Shanti and Zuda yoga studios. |
